As you can see, I have not written here in a very long time. (Writing is not something I do with ease.) Now that school is closed this extra week after Spring Break, I have had some extra time to do more of what I love, plus tackle some things that are further down the LIST.
If you didn't know, I love flower gardening and landscaping right along with reading (big suprise). During Spring Break 'most' of my flower beds were weeded and mulched. (Two trailer loads of mulch so far this spring) Because we have the extra week off, I decided to work on a pathway from the back of my house to my 'tranquil garden' and fish pond at the side of the house. This has been a sore spot with me for two years. I have laid down random flagstone pieces that have been leftover from other projects as well as placing some moss rock to line the area, again leftovers. So, now I have taken on the task of doing it right! I will let you know how all that turns out.
Reading - I have done plenty of this. From the chapters I read in the morning with my coffee, in the middle of the day while resting from outdoor work, at night before bed, and to the ones I listen to while I am gardening and landscaping, I have made my way though multiple books, some I will list below. Throughout this library website are different sites listed that you have all access to FREE online reading. I encourage you to read some each day, maybe a chapter or two. Hopefully you will find that great book that you just can't put down, and by the time you are told to 'come eat' or 'go to bed' you have read over 5 chapters.
Just remember, during this time of 'Social Distancing' make time to get outside, do something you love, keep learning and read a little each day.

Audiobooks - I listen to the app called Libby These are the FREE books provided by the Bellville Public Library. If you have a library card, call and ask them for directions to check out these audiobooks. I have listened to so many books on here, some include: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Hoot, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. |
Books I have read over the break so far...
Woodsong
Gary Paulsen
The West End students will hopefully remember our Iditarod Speaker, Karen Land, who brought her sled dog, Noggin, to our school in Feburary. When asked by Lilly B, a 4th grade student, "What inspired you to become a Musher?" Mrs Land replied that she became interested in dog sledding after reading the book Woodsong by G. Paulsen. So I read it, now I don't think I will go mushing in sub freezing temperatures, but the thought of working with and becoming so close to the sled dog 'team' is very interesting.
Great book - I highly suggest it.
